Client Website Launch

The Way To Wellness

With the client work I do I met Claire McGuigan from Draperstown, Magherafelt.  Claire is a registered nurse who has worked in the healthcare profession for many years. It was through her own personal health problems that Claire found out about Dr Terry Wahl’s and her programme The Wahl’s Protocol. Thia is essentially a diet which is a version of the Paleolithic (Paleo) diet.

That’s based on the idea that humans should eat more like our ancient ancestors and avoid the foods we started eating in the past several hundred years, like wheat and processed foods.

Claire was plesantly surprised by the results she obtained from this diet. SO much so that she decided to become a Wahl’s Practitioner so she could pass on the word of this diet to others who suffer from similar health problems as Claire had, i.e. those with MS and other autoimmune diseases.

Claire now runs her own consultancy The Way To Wellness. The only Wahl’s Practitioner in Ireland Claire has helped clients up and down the country implement the Wahl’s diet into their daily lives and thereby helped improve their health.

The Proposal

Claire wanted a website built that would not only introduce her to potential clients but a platform where they could read more about what the Wahl’s Protocol is and how could impact their lives.

She wanted a colourful and informative site that was user friendly making it easy for potential clients to get in touch with her and book consultations.

Before starting on the website I had to create a brand identity for Claire and her new business The Way To Wellness. She like the colours purple so I knew i wanted to add this to my design.

The Branding

Claire told me her mission statement was all about helping clients find a way back to a healthier versions of themselves. The way back to themselves.

When I thought of this I immediately thought of someone on a journey. A road to represent ‘The Way’

I also thought about how a person feels at the end of the journey. Like they had accomplished something.

That is where the basis for the logo came from. I used a dark shade of purple as it was the colour Claire originally wanted. The orange was to represent the sunrise.

Once I had the main design figured out and drawn on Illustrator, the last thing to do was fill in the rest of the details like the shading of the mountain road and the trees.

I also made a version in white which could be used later.

The Design

While Claire was busy collecting the content for her About Us page I created the main frame for the website.

I used a fully optimised WordPress Theme for the basis.

Claire needed an E-commerce site where she could sell her various programmes and materials. Adding woo commerce allowed her website to have it’s own shop page where she can add products in the future as she has big plans for the business.

Lots of information was added to the website to give her clients the best advice she can offer as well as an introduction to Wahl’s Protocol.

Call to actions are a must have on any website whether it be social media link, contact forms, mailchimp sign ups etc.

I had great fun with this colourful site. It was a pleasure to design.

The Training

As with all my clients I spent time with Claire via Zoom showing her the backend of the website and how to navigate her way though the various elements set up.

I also created a written user guide with images to take her though the step by step process of adding, deleting and updating the content with in her website.

I give all my clients a user guide as I find that it comes in handy when they are training new staff or if the are making changes after a long period of time they may forget.

It’s these personal touches I think my clients appreciate and I want to make it as easy as possible for them make edits.
