Hey You!

Hey you!

I’m sure by now you have realised my name is Kirsty. I am a graphic & web designer and a digital marketing consultant. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out if you have read any page on my website before landing on this one!

I thought I would take the opportunity to welcome you to my blog and let you know what to expect from me. 

There is no point in me rhyming off the services I offer here as you an find that information on nearly every other page on this site – I spent a long time on this website to showcase my skills and capabilities and if I brag anymore I will start sounding egotistical. 

So where to start???

I’m guessing unless you are a member of my family trying to be supportive, the main reason you are here is for the advice..

Well that I have plenty of! Marketing is such a HUGE industry to be a part of. It is constantly evolving and progressing and what you learn today may not necessarily be useful to you next year. Which is probably one of the main reasons I love being a part of the marketing community – you are always learning and growing.

So why am I doing this now? Simple. Like so many others, during the chaos that was 2020 and the pandemic, I found myself out of a job and lost for what to do.

Before covid, I was very settled in my little life. I had started in a job working in an agency I loved with people I respected and admired and was doing work that I found fulfilling and satisfying and I was blissfully happy. 

When lockdown hit and I found myself at working from home it was a shock to system but the little dream team I was part of got on with it and worked hard to stay on track.

I don’t think any of us expected what happened next. We found ourselves venturing into the unknown! Our jobs were no longer secure. I don’t care who you are – when that happens your heart breaks!

So long story short, our whole department was made redundant and I was suddenly at home with nothing to do and nowhere to go!

So what next? Well, I’ve always wanted to try being out on my own and now seemed like the perfect opportunity to give it a go and see what I was capable of. 

I was very fortunate that the work I was doing was actually sub-contracted and I was able to continue on by myself. As well as that work I was also able to create a shop where I could sell some of the graphic prints I have designed and create custom pieces for customers.

And so Kirsty McCrilly Creative Design & Digital Marketing Consultancy was born!

So here I am……a freelancer and loving every minute of it!

Working from home means I can do the school run, spend more time visiting my clients, can spread my appointments out over days and I’m not having to cram everything into a holiday leave from work.

I’m LOVING it!!

So follow along with me as I navigate my way through lockdown, being a home school teacher, working full time and keeping my sanity!

I promise it will be entertaining, educational and extremely expressive!!
